The existing site (0.25ha.) at Wellwood Street, bound by Glenalpin Street and Norwood Street, is used as a surface level commercial car park (89 spaces).

Glenalpin Street Ltd and RPP Architects submitted an outline planning application (Z/2014/1032/O) in August 2014 proposing a 13 storey purpose built student accommodation building comprising up to 391no. beds. The application was withdrawn by the applicant in September 2015.

A public exhibition for a proposed residential development (The Albion) took place on Monday 19th November.

Glenalpin Street Ltd submitted an outline planning application (LA04/2019/0127/O) in December 2018 proposing to develop a residential scheme comprising 277no. units. The application was amended in June 2019 to reduce the maximum proposed height from 19 storeys to 11 storeys and the number of units has been removed from the outline application. The outline application was approved in October 2020.
