The site is presently occupied by a three storey building designed by Alan Cook Architects for Belfast Waterfront Properties. Following planning approval (Z/1997/2351/F) the building was built between 1998 – 1999.
The Edge bar/restaurant traded from the building until closing during late 2010.
The property underwent a £1m internal refurbishment and El Divino bar/club opened in October 2011 and traded until closing in January 2017.
The building was placed on the market in October 2015 with a guide price of £1.75m.
Benmore Group acquired the site in 2017 and now propose to develop a £25m apartment building to be known as River Walk.
Benmore Property Management Services submitted a planning application (LA04/2019/0517/F) in February 2019 proposing to develop a 15-storey residential development comprising 154no. apartments and ground floor retail unit.
The application was amended in February 2020 and now proposes a residential development rising from 7 to 18 storeys comprising 154no. apartments, ground floor retail unit, residential reception and internal and external communal space.
