A four storey red brick building designed by Blackwood & Jury. Built by Mr Robert Corry for the Arthur Square Development Company between 1906 – 1907.

The site was previously occupied by the Talbot Bar and City Toilet Club (demolished summer 1906). The toilet club was a facility for those residents of Belfast who did not have washing facilities at home.

The Mayfair Buildings was B1 listed in June 1979 (HB26/50/096).

A planning application (Z/1999/2984/F) submitted in September 1999 proposed to change the use of the upper floors to student accommodation. The application was approved in December 1999 although development did not commence.
