A 13-storey hotel building comprising 237no. bedrooms. The £24m hotel was developed by McAleer & Rushe for Dalata Hotel Group. Construction commenced in June 2016 and the Maldron Hotel opened in March 2018.

The site was previously occupied by the part 9-storey, part 3-storey 1960’s College of Business Studies building. Belfast Metropolitan College relocated from the building to new accommodation at Titanic Quarter in September 2011.

The site was acquired by McAleer & Rushe in August 2014 and McCormack Demolition began demolition preparation works in April 2015. Actual demolition of the former college building began on Sunday 31 May 2015 and was completed in April 2016.

McAleer & Rushe and Consarc Design Group submitted a planning application (LA04/2015/0418/F) in May 2015 proposing a 206 bedroom hotel. The application was approved in April 2016 and in the same month Dalata Hotel Group announced the signing of a development contract with McAleer & Rushe to develop the site.

Construction commenced in June 2016. During construction the number of bedrooms was increased by 31no. to a total of 237no. (LA04/2017/1081/F).

The Maldron Hotel opened on 14th March 2018.
