A five storey red brick building; designed as a four storey linen warehouse by W.J. Barre for Watson Valentine & Co. Ltd and built 1864-1865. The current modern fifth floor was reportedly designed by Coogan & Co. Architects in 1990.

Hastings Hotel Group and Todd Architects submitted an outline planning application (Z/2008/1800/O) in 2008 proposing to demolish the building and develop a mixed-use eight storey building. The application was refused in April 2009.

Hastings Hotel Group submitted a planning application (LA04/2019/0473/F) in February 2019 proposing to refurbish the building for office use. The application was approved in August 2019.

Lambert Smith Hampton placed the building on the market in November 2019 with offers invited in the region of £2million.
