The existing Andersonstown Leisure Centre building was designed by architect DJ MacRandall in 1979 and comprises a 25m pool, learner pool, sports hall, gym and cafe.
Belfast City Council propose to develop a replacement £25m leisure facility as part of the Council’s Leisure Transformation Programme. The new facility is proposed to comprise a 25m six lane pool with 50 spectator seats, learner pool, leisure water area, gym, sports hall, cafe and outdoor five-a-side pitches and BMX park.
Consultation on the concept design for the new facility will take place during September 2016.
The procurement process to select a contractor is underway and it is expected that a construction contract will be awarded in November 2016.
