Portland 88 is a seven storey residential building comprising 88no. apartments. Designed by Gregory Architects for Barnett Developments and built by Graham Construction.
Site History
The site is bound by the Ormeau Road, Havelock Place and Coyles Place.
A planning application (Z/2007/2723/F) submitted by Liberante Developments and Gregory Architects in August 2007 proposed to develop a 7-storey building comprising 5no. ground floor retail units, 86no. apartments above and car parking at ground and basement level. The application was approved in January 2010.
Liberante Developments and Gregory Architects submitted a new planning application (Z/2010/0245/F) in March 2010 proposing to develop a 7-storey building comprising 5no. ground floor retail units, 83no. apartments above and car parking at ground and mezzanine level. The application was approved in December 2015.
TDK Property was appointed receiver for the site in July 2012 and subsequently brought the site to market in 2014 with a guide price of £700,000. The site sold for a reported £717,000 during Spring 2015.
Pimlico Capital released marketing material relating to a proposed residential building on the site. Pimlico referred to a scheme designed by Rapport Architects comprising 60no. 2-bedroom apartments with 25 car parking spaces.
Barnett Developments submitted a planning application in May 2016 proposing to develop a 7-storey building comprising 88no. apartments. The application was approved in September 2016.
Graham Construction commenced work on-site in March 2017. The site tower crane was erected on 20th July 2017. Portland 88 was completed during February 2019.
