The Vantage is a 67,500ft2 office development first built in the early 1990s and currently undergoing a £25m redevelopment to refurbish the building and construct an additional two floors.
The building was initially built as an 11-storey office building between 1990 – 1992. The building was designed in 1990 by RMI Architects and developed by McAleer & Rushe.
McAleer & Rushe submitted a planning application (Z/1989/2850) in October 1989 proposing an office building with ground floor retail and car parking at nos.32-34 Great Victoria Street. The application was approved in December 1989. A further application (Z/1990/2132) in February 1990 proposed to amend the scheme to include an extension incorporating no.36 Great Victoria Street. The application was approved in May 1990.
The NI Housing Executive occupied the building from 1992 – 2019.
SM Great Victoria Street Ltd submitted a planning application (LA04/2019/0335/F) in January 2019 proposing to refurbish and extend the existing building. The application was approved in November 2019.
The redevelopment will create an additional two floors on top of the building.
Internal strip out of the existing building commenced late 2019 and O’Neill Building Works Ltd commenced main works in January 2019 with scaffolding erected by Advanced NI Scaffolding.
The redeveloped building, known as The Vantage, was completed autumn 2021 and comprises 67,500ft2 (nia) of office accommodation.
