A three-storey terrace of former residential properties converted to commercial use in the early 1900s. The Co-Operative occupied the ground floor (c3,550ft2) from the 1950s until closing in September 2006.
A planning application (Z/2008/0032/F) submitted by the Co-Operative in December 2007 proposed shop-front alterations and partial change of use (80m2) from class A1 to class A2 including subdivision into 4 units. The application was approved in June 2008 although no works commenced.
Whelan Property, acting on behalf of Co-Operative Group, sold the building to Hackamore Ltd in June 2015. Whelan were inviting offers in the region of £650,000 although the final sale price was not disclosed.
A planning application (LA04/2015/0724/F) submitted in July 2015 by Hackamore Ltd and Bryson Architects proposed a new shop frontage and change of use at ground floor. The application was approved in January 2016.
Hackamore Ltd and Bryson Architects submitted a further planning application (LA04/2016/0532/F) in March 2016 proposing alterations to the elevations, and change of use to the upper floors to 4no. apartments. The application was approved in June 2016.
Works to redevelop the building commenced in June 2016 and completed during summer 2017.
The two ground floor units have been let to Cafe Mauds and Camile. Both are expected to open September / October 2017.
