A five storey call centre building (120,000ft2) and adjacent multi-storey car park (200no. spaces) developed by CUSP Ltd for HBOS Plc.
The £45m development was designed by MAP Architects and built by McLaughlin & Harvey between January 2000 – April 2001.
The call centre building is constructed from a steel frame (erected March – April 2000) with in-situ concrete floor slabs and external EDM Spanwell cladding and curtain walling.
The Industrial Development Board (now InvestNI) provided a c£15m grant to help finance the scheme. Halifax moved into the building in May 2001 and hosted an official opening in July 2001.
Lloyds Banking Group and Pegasus Group submitted a planning application (LA04/2018/2281/F) in September 2018 proposing to remove the existing external cladding panels and erect temporary weather protection. The application was approved in November 2018 on the condition that the cladding be restored, or alternative approved cladding installed, within 12 months. A further planning application (LA04/2018/2742/F) was submitted in November 2018 proposing a new replacement cladding design. The application was approved in January 2019.
Work to remove the building’s cladding panels commenced in October 2018 and was completed by December 2019. The new cladding is designed to improve the thermal efficiency of the building and improve fire safety.
