A five storey red brick building; designed as a four storey linen warehouse by W.J. Barre for Watson Valentine & Co. Ltd and built 1864-1865. The current modern fifth floor was reportedly designed by Coogan & Co. Architects in 1990.

Hastings Hotel Group and Todd Architects submitted an outline planning application (Z/2008/1800/O) in 2008 proposing to demolish the building and develop a mixed-use eight storey building. The application was refused in April 2009.

Hastings Hotel Group submitted a planning application (LA04/2019/0473/F) in February 2019 proposing to refurbish the building for office use.
