A previously vacant site (0.062 acres) adjacent Bank Square. The site was identified in the Department for Social Development’s (DSD) 2009 Westside Regeneration Masterplan as a ‘key development opportunity’. DSD issued a notice of intention to vest the land at 38 – 42 Bank Street in December 2012 and in March 2013 the department issued a Development Brief for the site.
DSD announced the selection of MM Developments (NI) Ltd as preferred developer for the site in August 2015. Cedarr Properties Ltd submitted a planning application (LA04/2015/0920/F) in the same month proposing to develop a four storey ’boutique travel hotel’ comprising a ground floor restaurant and 17no/ ensuite rooms above. The application was approved in September 2016.
BAR NI Ltd commenced construction in November 2017.
