Olive Tree House |
|
A plaque at the entrance to Olive Tree House marks the unveiling of the original stone by Terence O’Neil (Minister of Finance) on 15 May 1958.
In October 2006 a planning application was submitted for a ten storey replacement building but these plans were not progressed. In January 2008 permission was granted to demolish the existing office building and construct a new seven storey building with ground and first floor retail use and offices on the upper floors (Z/2006/2044/F & Z/2006/2302/D). In April 2009 permission was granted to amend the approval from January 2008 to build an 8 (rather than 7) storey extension with ground floor retail and offices above. In 2008 Deramore confirmed that work to Olive Tree House was planned for within their future development programme. This would coincide with lease ends and vacant possession in 2012. Initially the plan involved demolition and replacement but this was changed in 2011, reflecting the economic climate, to involve refurbishment of the building. Work is expected to commence towards the end of 2012 / early 2013. |
