Plans for the office development were revealed in May ‘98. The 10 storey building would accommodate ground floor retail and offices on the upper 9 floors.

The site had already gained planning permission for 200 bedroom hotel however the half acre site changed hands in December 1997. Then used as a car park the land was bought by McAleer & Rushe from Glenbank Estates for over £2 million.

Millennium House is situated to the left of the Great Northern Tower which itself is next to the Europa Hotel.
