The development was designed by MAP Architects (contract value - £21m) and constructed by McLaughlin & Harvey (contract value - £19.5m) on plots 5 and 6 of the Gasworks site between January 2000 and April 2001. Piling was largely completed in February 2000 and the steel frame was completed in April 2000. The 120,000sq. ft. four storey building was constructed at the same time as a 200 space multi storey car park. The building is largely constructed from a steel frame with in-situ concrete floor slabs and external EDM Spanwell cladding and curtain walling. Rotary Group carried out much of the electrical and mechanical work on the project under an £8.6m contract.
The Industrial Development Board (now InvestNI) provided a grant to help finance the scheme of just over £15m. Construction - April 2001 Halifax move in - May 2001 Official Opening - July 2001 |
