The nine storey office building located on Adelaide Street was purchased in Autumn 2007 by Jermon Developments for £13m. In January 2007 Merrion Properties Group lodged a planning application to demolish the building and replace it with a new ten storey commercial office building with basement parking designed by Farningham McCreadie Partnership. Planning permission was granted in June 2007 for redevelopment of the 0.13ha site.
In Autumn 2007 the building was purchased by Jermon Developments for £13m from Merrion Property Group. In February 2008 a planning application was submitted seeking approval for a development by Robinson McIlwaine to provide a replacement eleven storey building with offices located on the bottom six floors and hotel accommodation on the remaining upper floors. The new proposal by Jermon Developments received planning permission in March 2009. 0372/F & 0392/DCA Clarendon House, 9-21 Adelaide Street, Belfast Demolition of existing 9 No. storey office building and construction of 11 No. storey commercial office and 145 bedroom hotel development, with 2 storey basement parking (53 spaces) and associated site works.
