Planning for Benedicts Hotel on Bradbury Place began in 1995 when Elmoreton Ltd appointed Harrison Leitch & Logan Solicitors to acquire the land required and secure financing for the development. Construction then commenced following the demolition of existing buildings on the site. A basement was constructed, followed by the five storey steel framed hotel building, with insitu concrete floors. The architect for the scheme was Michael Galbraith Associates of Donegal and the contractor was Shipquay Enterprises Ltd of Londonderry. The hotel was completed in late 1998 at a cost of £4m and provides 32 bedrooms, a restaurant, lounge, bar and reception.
In November 2007 planning permission (Z/2007/1447/F) was passed for the demolition of 12 - 20 Donegall Road and the erection of 4 commercial units with 4 levels of hotel use above for 30 bedrooms. The extension would be linked to the existing hotel at 7 - 21 Bradbury Place. |
