The development site lies at the junction of Ormeau Road and Baroda Street at 249 - 259 Ormeau Road. An application to demolish the existing commerical units and develop a building ranging in height from 3 to 6 storeys providing ground floor retail and 56 apartments with basement and groundfloor parking was submitted in January 2008. It was initially recommended for approval in May 2009 however there were 11 objections and Belfast City Council recommended the scheme be deferred for further deliberation. The application was approved in September 2009 however no date has yet been set for construction to commence.
