The development site initially received planning consent in March 2003 for the construction of a new nine storey building providing 275,000sq. ft. of office space with two levels of car parking.

In December 2008 alternative plans (Z/2008/2396/F) were submitted to the Planning Service which will see the site developed into 12 storey, 250 bedroom hotel with basement parking.

The site is currently occupied by a two storey building and a multi-storey car park which was used by Royal Mail for company vehicles.
